Why is Core Stability So Important?
Because our core abdominal muscles, when strong and healthy, work to form a natural girdle that supports our lower back which keeps our pelvis, hips and lower lumbar in perfect alignment. This strong base sets the platform for the rest of our vertebra to align and makes it easier for our upper torso muscles to support our frame which allows us to maintain correct posture. When our core system breaks down and becomes weak our pelvic floor drops, our girdle loosens causing hip rotation and a loss of lumbar support; this forces surrounding muscle groups to pick up the slack which, in turn, causes them to be overworked. Some of these overworked muscle groups will be forced to tighten putting huge amounts of stress on our muscular system. This muscle imbalance, over time, creates further muscle, ligament, tendon and bone stress that inflames and overloads the fascial system. This overload creates structural weakness making us susceptible to injury and can lead to chronic pain throughout the body.
Up until now there have been few ways to reverse these effects. The patent pending Bula Ball Method focuses on rehabilitating the core system while releasing muscle tension throughout the body; that release allows the correcting process to begin. As the core muscles grow stronger and start to support the lower lumbar, the muscular system starts to re-balance. Through experience and research, we have found that strengthening the transverse abdominal muscle and focusing our rehabilitation program around the transverse muscle has a domino effect on the surrounding muscles. Strengthening that muscle fires up the core system, restoring pelvic lift and lower lumbar support. This is one of the key components of the Bula Ball Method that must be followed to overcome chronic muscle pain.
More than 50% of us Lose Core Stability Before our Pre-Teens.
A widely know “fact” shared by medical practitioners is that more than 50% of Americans will lose their core stability and strength by the time they reach their teenage years and another 30% will lose core stability before their 21st birthdays. Its commonly agreed that our bodies are not designed to spend long periods sitting at a desk, these long periods of sitting cause our cores to disengage losing strength and stability. That means that for most people, beginning at the age of 5, we are losing our core strength and stability, which are necessary for good posture and back support. Its no wonder that more than a quarter of American are suffering with chronic pain. In addition to a sedentary lifestyle, the loss of core stability can also be caused by serious injury, surgery and trauma. The developers of the Bula Ball Method are convinced that core instability is directly related to the disengagement of the transverse abdominal muscle which is caused either by lack of use (i.e., sitting for long periods), lack of exercise or serious trauma. It is this disengagement that has an adverse affect on our entire muscular system that, for many people, leads directly to a lifetime of chronic pain. The Bula Ball Method is a chronic pain treatment program fusing self-myofascial release techniques, yoga, pilates and core strengthening exercises that will help you to overcome that pain.
Core stability is crucial to restoring balance and reducing muscle pain.
